Forgetting to smell the roses?

It seems I've been forgetting to smell the roses recently. Not taking time to take a step back and appreciate things, to slow the pace and think of myself (and others) a little bit more, I'm crabby when I'm tired! Tuesday night it all came crashing down and I felt SOOOOOOOOOO tired and really quite poorly. I took myself off to bed at 8.30 and slept until 7am the next day.

Lovely Hubby went into work late so he could feed the animals and clean out the henhouses for me, now you know why I call him 'Lovely'.
#
My 'va-va-voom' had hopped on its motorbike and zoomed off to play with someone else's, possibly Pennys, I downscaled all the jobs for the day and, horror of horrors, didn't even water the polytunnel until it had gotten cooler at 8pm.
#
Today I feel slightly better and ready to get into the swing a bit more, there are lots of carrots still to be harvested and soooooo much spinach Popeye would be in heaven, so that's another job to do, but first I am going to walk my poor neglected doggies and take the time to smell the roses or any other delightful scents that drift my way. Camera in hand I will walk the fields and take an hour for myself (and the hounds) and snap you a picture.

By the way I know the photo at the top is of sunflowers and not roses, but I don't grow roses, you can't eat them....can you?

I'm off.........

  1. umm I'm starting to think all the va va Vooms are on a lovely holiday somewhere.

If I'm not irritable then I'm on the verge of tears.

Need a huge thunderstorm to clear the air..

  4. Can I come too? and Bobby dog.
Sometimes we give ourselves a faster pace, that's good in small doses but, not for prolonged times. Enjoy your walk and smell as much as you can, but I think the best thing is to simply breathe! That would be nice after the rain we're promised!

  5. You can all come too, hitch up your dogs and lets stride the fields together, there is no rain...yet! But the birds are singing and the bees are a buzzing, they seem to know the secret of simple living, I'm going to stop and ask a passing butterfly for some tips.

  8. Thanks for the reminder to slow down. I forget to do this most of the time and always miss something that I was usually looking forard to seeing! I hope you've had a good day!!!

  10. Take care of yourself Sue.

I was thinking of you on Tuesday night actually, while I watched one of those 'begin life again' programs where a family had moved to a country place and bought chickens etc...

It's idyllic but hard I guess.

    Be gentle on yourself today

  11. I agree so much....we MUST stop regularly and take in what's around us. It's quite revitalizing and yet slows down the mind. Ah-h-h
