Time for Tea

Obviously the 'ladies' are not used to me being in the house all day and by teatime yesterday, currently about 3.30pm for chickens, they were all knocking on the back door demanding to see their Mum.
So what's a poorly girl to do, I got myself all wrapped up and went out to them, for tea they had their usual Layers Pellets and a sprinkle of corn and as a special treat for coming to see if I was alright, a broken up Christmas cake. To say they enjoyed it would be an understatement, it must have been the added brandy because they were all tucked up in bed by the time I got back from feeding the pigs.
I hope their hangovers aren't too bad today!

  1. " Mummy where are you ? " now, is that a raised bed I see ? How are you going to keep them out ? judging by the heaps of comments I had on the subject - it simply isn't possible !!!!

Hope you feel better soon xx

  2. It is a raised bed, for a better look at the beds look at the post 'Misty Morning'. We currently have 6 constructed at the back of the house with 3 more due to go in soon.

They will have netted box lids to keep the hens out.

  4. Lovely birds, Sue. But you need to get better, so ignore their bullying!

  5. I'm sorry you've been poorly. (Of course one would normally suggest chicken soup but that certainly doesn't seem appropriate!!)

Oh I love your hens! They are such characters aren't they. I think all animals / birds are when you get to know them. I was talking to our kitchen maker last week - he has three hens, one of them is called Tallulah!

    Really hope you feel better,

    Love Charlotte

Nice of your chooks to check up on you even if it was entirely stomach led, but then most things are with chickens!

  8. Thank you for all the good wishes. I'm feeling a bit better today, it's just a stinker of a cold, I just can't get warm.

If I was a chicken my comb would be blue and a giant human would come and sit me in a warm place and feed me, but I'm me and I soldier on getting through the chores, slowly but surely.

    Thank you for caring!
