Inside/Outside Day ... and News

Look at the state of that, my messy bits and pieces baking drawer out there in glorious colour for you all to see, it was starting to be a bit of a struggle to get anything out!!

Yesterday the weather did not know what it wanted to do, brilliant sunshine for a few minutes ... just long enough to get me grabbing my trowel and gloves ... and then heavy showers that just made me run for cover.  I gave up in the end and got stuck in to tidying up the messy drawers in the kitchen instead.

I knew there would be some things that would end up in the car boot box and was determined to get rid of them.

An hour later it was sorted through, cleaned and then the things I needed to keep were laid out neatly and ready for action, so much better and easier on the eye too.

I didn't stop with the baking drawer either, I went through and sorted and cleaned the cutlery drawer, I wanted to double check that we had just enough to supply two houses and yes, I think we can just about do it.  We will just need to buy another one each of our large and small chopping knives, which we both love and then we will be set up in both our houses.

Because yes, fingers crossed that everything now progresses smoothly, but our offer has just been accepted on our new North Wales home.  We have to wait for the results of a Radon Gas report for the mortgage company but as long as that is at reasonable levels we have done it, got ourselves our forever home :-)

Bits and pieces that are now waiting in the car boot sale box ready for the start of July.  I think we're a bit old for Gingerbread men and teddy bear shaped biscuits now, don't you !!

  9. Your before baking drawer looks a bit like mine as it stands. Hope all goes well with the house purchase. I'm excited for you but why two lots of cutlery, one in each, are you living in two places for a while?

    1. While we pay off our mortgage LH will be staying in Berkshire for a few nights each week while he continues with his current contract. Once it is paid off and we have a little emergency fund he will be taking early retirement and our links with this current house will come to an end.

Our landlord has offered him the house to share with some friends at a much reduced rent in return for basic 'caretaking' duties as he and his family will be returning in about 18 months. The arrangement suits us all beautifully, but does mean that we do require two of lots of things to keep both places going during the overlap.

  17. What a great adventure you are having. I get the guilts everytime one of you ladies do a drawer makeover. When i finally do get home and get dinner underway, wrestling with the contents of my drawers (sounds rude)and promise myself yet again to sort it out but something distracts me (more housework) and it just never gets done.

I took your advice on the living lettuce leaves and guess what???...
I bought a pack yesterday and they were reduced like yours!!!

Our vegetable plots are starting to look good now (better than last year) and the lettuce will be a great addition. Thank you for all your advice.

  26. Great news about the house, fingers crossed. Keep the ginger people, handy if you want to make some bargain tree decs at Christmas, also if you decide to make some biscuits to sell from your approved order mixes.

  27. Hiya, sorry about the late reply - had a couple of days in Hampshire with the family and had a fab time. So happy about the house news, it has been a long journey (well many actually) but a few days rest together is the perfect solution. Looking forward to all the future 'house' news.
