Yay .... Good News

I'm about to be back in business, the food growing business that it.

We have just heard that Planning Permission has been granted for us to erect the poly and net tunnels on our paddock.  We are both so pleased, so exited and so relieved that we now have permission.

As soon as I have the letter in my hand confirming what our architect has just told us I will be on the phone to First Tunnels (see HERE) to confirm the order that I placed with them many, many months ago and which they have kindly kept on record for me, just waiting for this day.

   Happy Happy Happy

Note:  you do not normally need planning permission to erect a polytunnel on your own land as they are classed as non-permanent structures.   Unless like us you are right against a main road, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty AND right on the edge of Snowdonia!!

  1. That is good news. Do you have an area nearby that motorists will be able to pull over into to stop and buy some?

  6. Brilliant news, I`m sure! Best of luck with all your intended growing. I wish that I could afford a small greenhouse, let alone a poly tunnel for my garden. Due to a bit of bad health, the weather and slugs I have lost all my newly raised seedlings of tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes, butternut squashes and pumpkins as well as beans. I`m gutted that I might have to replace them with shop bought if I want any success at all in growing veg this year. The only little success at the moment are my peas and potatoes. Hope you have more luck with your growing this year.

    1. No LH still works at the day job. This phase of our plan is all about earning enough money to pay off the mortgage in the next 2 - 3 years so that THEN we can fully work the small holding and live off what we raise and grow and also Phase 3 .......we will never be 'retiring' as such..... and anyway we're much too young for that ;-)

  14. Super pleased for you both. Everything is falling into place now, always takes a bit of time and so frustrating whilst you're waiting to get on. Might I suggest to one of your readers, Sarina, that you can sometimes pick up small greenhouses and poly tunnels on Freegle or Freecycle, if she has them in her area. We looked in our local papers and found a great secondhand greenhouse at a real bargain price. It was a bit of work taking it down and re-erecting it but so worth it.

  16. I am very happy for you, but I was rather hoping the good news was that Mavis has come back. Any news on her?

    1. No, we have never heard a peep about Mavis. After careful detective work we have found out that she is NOT back with her previous owner.
