Sorry it's been so long since the last post.
I'm not on a 'blogging break' like so many are doing at the moment ..... well if I am it's not the sort of break I would like very often and not my idea of a 'break' at all. We've been busy transforming our hillside into a maze of raised beds. This picture was taken on Friday when things had just gotten underway, as you can see Suky is once again in a supervisory role.
It's heavy going, especially for Lovely Hubby to takes the strain of most of our heavy work. I've been filling in the central bed this morning. It's called Dad's Bed and will be the haven of loveliness in the middle of all the vegetables. We have a lovely weeping style tree that will be in the bed and some of the plants that were in the original 'Dad's Bed' back in our last place in Reading.
I must go now Lovely Hubby is due for another cup of tea to wash down the slice of homemade cake I've just made for him, my particular one man army most definitely marches on it's stomach.
Sue xx
Its certainly coming along. Bless your hubby he is working hard, as I am sure are you. It will look amazing when its all finished.

You need someone to do some stone picking!
ReplyDeleteFunny how several people are taking breaks from blogging. I'm not, I'm regular................must be all the prune juice!
That's one of my jobs, digging the earth back out from the mound and wheel barrowing it to the beds, plucking out stones as I go, which then all go to the bottom of the hill on what will be the roadway past the poly tunnel to the paddock. Heavy going :-(
DeleteLovely husband is working his socks off:) love to you both. Xxx
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of your 'Dad's Bed' such a nice thing to do. Bringing him and his influences in to your new home.

I'm just going through all your past post so I haven't got time to comment xx
ReplyDeleteReading ALL the posts? ...... brave you!!
DeleteLooking good. I always find that time spent on the "infrastructure" of your smallholding is always time well spent.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's some task getting under way there!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the end result.
I bet hubby could eat a whole cake and burn off the calories! Bless him x
I will be watching your progress carefully as we are about to build a raised veg bed in our garden and don't really know what we are doing!
ReplyDeleteI'll put the latest pictures up tomorrow. :-)
DeleteYou guys have been steaming along since you moved in. Obviously you have spent a great deal of time planning and it all seems to be coming together. Imagine a time in the future when Hubby can sit back with a glass of ale in his hand and survey all that you have both achieved. I imagine a certain smug smirk on his face - that will be well deserved.
ReplyDeleteMy word looking good methinks he deserves all the cups of tea & homemade cake!
ReplyDeleteThat's very inspiring as I have a slope in my garden that I would love to turn into raised beds but can't quite raise the energy right now.
