Teamwork

Lovely Hubby is cracking on bit by bit with the polytunnel.  Last weekend he got all this done, it might not look much but all the soil was dug carefully out to precise measurements and then sieved and taken up the hill to the top raised bed which is now almost full.

A couple more barrow loads and this will be ready for action.

The trench with the polytunnel anchor plates or 'feet' will be filled in with cement to really hold everything down in the wind.   We are organising a mini mixer to deliver it and have it all done in one fell swoop just as soon as he has done the other side.

It's heavy, slow but very satisfying work.  Sometimes I feel a bit useless while all this is going on as there's not a huge amount I can do to help, we work completely differently and he is very precise so it's best I leave him to it.  It helps to know your own strengths and weaknesses when you work as a team.

To me this is a labour of love, and once it's up and I'm working in there I won't simply be surrounded by polythene and plants .... I'll be surrounded by a space that my Lovely Hubby poured his heart and soul into just for me ... then he'll get to eat the food that I grew with love just for him.

Teamwork.

  1. Lovely :) I feel the same about the work Compostman and I share - he does his bit and I do mine and then we share the results :) Usually without domestics!

  2. Love it when things come together.
Plants will get growing pretty quick once the 'tunnel is up won't they?

Got my 2nd egg yesterday morning, so guess my 'girls' must feel it's ok here lol! Will be even better once the larger run is set up for them.

  3. This is how my husband and I work together and it's worked for 38 years so we must be doing something right.

  4. Sue, I'm with you on this working together thing. We do really well on general stuff, like Ronni, but when it comes to Jerry's engineer approach and my "just get it done" approach, there is an issue. Our next project is to build my grandson a tree house. Ugh!

  5. Sue are you burying the plastic or have you got the nail on version? We have buried but we recently helped a friend put the other type and if we ever have to recover that is the way I will go as you can adjust the bottom and restretch the plastic if necessary. My hubby and I work the same .....play to your strengths I say ............literally in our case as he is much more able bodied than me

  10. It is all coming on so well. OH and I are visiting North Wales for the first time in 30 years. Spending 10 days touring in our motor home, at Betws y Coed for a couple of days and today travelled by bus from there to Llandudno, I can see why you decided to settle in such a beautiful area. (Apologies for any mis-spellings)

    1. If you were on the bus from Betws y Coed to Llandudno you must have passed right past our little bit of Welsh hillside, we are on the main bus route!! You should have waved ;-)

  11. I thought that I recognised raised beds, trailer, truck etc (OH thought I was nuts when I said "I think that is where the lady lives whose photos of the pug I show you")..I couldn't remember if you had ever "said" exactly where you lived, so did not want to possibly compromise your privacy/security. I am sure we will return to the area (just down the road in Shropshire) so will wave merrily if we do. Ali.
