A Sucker for Stationery

How cute is this !!

I'm a really sucker for nice stationery, especially notebooks and this little one jumped out at me and begged me to buy it.  (It's available in National Trust shops if you fancy one for yourself.)

I end up with lots of lovely notebooks, but I use them and that's the difference in my opinion between wasting money on knick knacks and spending wisely.  If you can find a souvenir on a day out that will make you smile every time you use it for months to come after it's purchase then it's worth every penny.  The fact that this little chicken also reminds me of Molly, one of our very first rescue birds and my all time favourite chicken is just a very special bonus.

And this little beauty lives in my handbag ready to jot down notes for things I want to Blog about and for jotting down a quick shopping list when the one I made before my journey out is suddenly remembered to still be sitting on the kitchen worktop.

Three pounds very well spent in my opinion  :-)

  1. I keep a little notebook in my bag for just such notes too. Yours is really cute and anything that makes you smile must be a good thing - right?

  2. I love notebooks :) however I buy too many! I recently gave my mum a load (and I do stress aload) of notebooks so my nephews can use them for drawing or writing stories in when they visit :) so at least they've gone to a good cause :)

  3. I too love stationary. The children and I write quite a few letters to people and the fun begins by choosing what paper you would like to write the letter on!

  4. Ah yes…the left behind shopping list! I know it well. I do find though that having previously written one I usually manage to get everything I need without it.

  6. Nice to find another stationary lover. I just love walking around stationary shops and taking in the lovely smell of paper etc, the difference is, I don't like to use my lovely little books when I buy them, a bit like my fabric. lol

  9. This is just my sort of thing, especially now I have chickens!
Does it say who the artist is? I think I'd like to look at more of their work.
Thanks for showing us this Sue.

    1. Looking on the National Trust website I have found out the artist is Hannah Dale, she has a book coming out next month featuring lots of her wildlife artworks.

  11. I would be lost without my notebooks, I am a list maker and like to record most things. I tend to buy pretty ones when I am out and about, just incase I should run out.

  13. oh thats just lovely, and so you. I love the picture, and yes, I'm another stationery lover. As a child, each year I used to receive a Post Office set that had various bits of stationery in, notepaper, envelopes, pretend stamps, post office stampers to 'authorise' them with, a folder to put it all in. I just loved those

  14. We have had fun using Shutterfly to create note cards and such with pictures from our travels. This is really a very easy procedure, and not too expensive. And each time you take out a note card you are reminded of that special place from the photo.

  15. It's perfect. I have a notebook in a handbag but as I usually pile everything into a basket I forget it !

  17. Stationary, yes, but our favourite purchase for mementos are tea-towels! They cause us to talk "Remember when's" while we're doing the dishes. We have some that go back twenty years - and we reverse the order in the drawer occasionally so we get different ones out! (How sad is that!)

  18. How gorgeous! I am a sucker for nice notebooks and have quite a stash that I am working through so I shan't succumb to this one, but it is lovely, and I hope you enjoy using it xxx

  19. Great...more fodder for my notebook addiction. If the artist's work is available in the states, I'm on it! Thanks!
