Space, I love it !!
The top picture is where the coffee making machine used to live and now it's gone it's so much easier to wipe everywhere down properly each day. I do like to whizz round with a cloth whenever I start any food preparation in the kitchen, well you have too really when there's a cat and two little dogs jettisoning fur in this hot weather.
This is where the toaster used to live, so no more lifting it everyday and wiping the crumbs left underneath into the chickens treat bowl before I can wipe the area down properly.
I'm preferring the space on the worktops to the gadgets that used to live there, and I love the time I save not having to move things around to clean under them. It's making me think that it's time to do one final push around the place and see if I have enough things to maybe do one final car boot sale. If this little bit of space makes me so happy how will I feel with even more in the cupboards and around the place.
I think it's time for my 'Decluttering 365 Challenge' (see the page at the top of the blog for more information) to be drawn to a close now. One hundred and thirty items have already left the house for good, so that means I have to find another 235 to be able to call this challenge over and done with, and I think that many items will make for a good boot full of things to sell.
I think I'm going to start searching around again and see how much more space I can make.
Sue xx
I love my kitchen sides nice and clear. I know of somebody who even puts their kettle in the cupboard so she has absolutely nothing on her sides. I don't go that far!
ReplyDeleteI love a good clear out, I also like my kitchen clutter free. Much easier for cleaning. Enjoy your newfound space :)
ReplyDeleteJust before we moved out our microwave broke and so I'm going to see if I can do without one in the future as I like the idea of free counter space. Good luck with your extra de-cluttering Sue. I'll be joining you when we finally move in.
ReplyDeleteMy microwave broke almost a year ago. I decided to see if I could do without it - I could, so I haven't replaced it!
DeleteMy husband has bought a microwave shelf so we can free up space on our worktop. We are coming to Llandudno this week and really looking forward to it. We have also hired a holiday cottage in BYC for a week next month which we cant wait for. You are so lucky living there I am very jealous !
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment Sue. That's why we are off over to North Wales for a bit of R&R just the two of us.
DeleteWe didn't replace our toaster when it stopped working, I have never regretted it. Not having all those crumbs on the worktop every day is great.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't replaced ours either we use the grill :) One thing that came up other day when cooking for workmen though was that we do bacon under the grill and they wanted bacon on toast so it meant the bacon sitting going cold until the toast was done as not enough room under grill to do everything at same time :S
DeleteNice space but How do you make a proper good decent coffee without a machine though?
ReplyDeleteI confess that I too would miss the coffee machine! But I am impressed at the continuing decluttering x
ReplyDeleteI love the space you've created and your resolve to not replace gadgets. We once had a coffee maker as a present and it never left its box and we've never had a food processor either. I much prefer space to stuff in kitchens generally although I do have a 'thing' about shelves which I'm trying to resist xo
ReplyDeleteYou'd have to lie down in a darkened room if you saw my kitchen surfaces!
ReplyDeleteI find I am putting away more appliances, the toaster has been put back in a box now we have learned how to do toast on the Rayburn, the GF grill has gone, we havent replaced the microwave our other was built in.
ReplyDeleteI love your tiles by the way :-)
I love your tiles! What a good way to declutter, I will check it you declutter challenge x
