Lots of you asked to see the contents of our lovely Fortnum and Mason hamper so as we unpacked it yesterday I thought I would take a photo for you ... a certain little lady decided she would be in the shot too.
I don't think it was fame she was after, more likely the box of chocolate covered mints that are perched on the Christmas pudding box. What ever they put in them seem to make them extremely appealing to dogs .... last year Charley pinched and ate the lot, including most of the box!!
Edited In - Please be aware that chocolate in all it's forms is VERY poisonous to dogs, We were very lucky Charley had a cast iron constitution and survived her impromptu stolen feast, (we did keep a close eye on her after ... watching for any ill effects), I've read about other dogs that have not been so lucky.
If you want your dogs to have chocolate treats, especially at this time of year, buy them special doggy ones which have safe ingredients and are very cheap. You can always do what we do and put a few of them in a dish in the corner of your Malteser box .... then the dogs just think they are getting the same as you.

Reverse Advent - Day 17
A tin of F&M Christmas Spiced Tea. We won't use this and it's far better it goes to someone who can make good use of it while it is fresh.

What a lovely Christmas treat

Lovely!! Lucky you, enjoy. I've made up two 'hampers' this year for the mums; well I had to post both of them so they were just items wrapped and placed in a box. One mum got a foody, tea, coffee, chocs hamper, and the other mum got a toiletries hamper as she can't eat sweet things. They worked out a lot cheaper than ordering a hamper, especially as I bought some of the items on special offer. I also sent some toiletries to the food bank.
ReplyDeleteI was wrapping Christmas presents yesterday and our dogs kept sniffing at the chocolate presents x
Now the hamper basket is empty, just pop Mavis in there and send her here for a visit? :) she'd look great with a bow around her too.....
ReplyDeleteNot a chance ;-)
Deletewhat a lovely hamper, did it also come in that gorgeous basket it is perched on?
ReplyDeletegosh i would love a tea caddy like that spiced tea one, they are so hard to come by over here, am sure the next recipients will love it.
thanx for sharing
Yes, I posted about receiving it a few days ago :-)
DeleteIt all looks inviting. I am not entirely presentless in that department. I have an order from Tesco delivery on line each week and this week they sent me a 'free' box of chocolates!
ReplyDeleteThese little extras are always a lovely surprise aren't they :-)
DeleteA Christmas gift to yourselves. Lovely, thanks for showing us. :)
ReplyDeleteWe didn't buy it. We get one of these as a gift each year from the agency that LH works through at the moment, we're very lucky this is our seventh!!
DeleteHow lovely! The wicker hamper is wonderful too isn't it! xx
ReplyDeleteLovely contents but I love the basket hamper more than the contents, even though I know it ill be delicious. You must have quite a collection of these hampers now.
ReplyDeleteI worked out after being asked in an email how many we have had, and it's SEVEN.
DeleteA small picnic style one the first year and then six the same as this one. We have three in regular use holding bedding, bathroom stuff etc and acting as bedside tables in the spare bedroom. We sold two at car boot sales to a VERY appreciative lady and Mum has the other one. This one is to be offered to another family member if she would like it.
Oh that Mavis.........she is just too cute for words.
ReplyDeleteFab hamper......though I would be with you on the spiced tea. Makes me shudder just to think about it.
I was in fortnum and masons yesterday and saw the spiced tea - wasn't tempted ;-)
ReplyDeleteSue please please PLEASE could you add a note in your post reminding people how dangerous chocolate is to dogs? Too many people still don't seem to be aware!
ReplyDeleteOn a less worried note - those F & M Hampers are fantastic aren't they - we had one for several years, also via an employer - and thoroughly enjoyed it - in fact one of the wicker baskets is still in regular use!
Good point, will edit in a reminder for everyone ... thanks.
DeleteAbsolutely love the hamper rather than the food!
ReplyDeleteYou just have to recycle it as a coffee table
Ps thanks for the cards xx
Another one here who prefers the basket to the contents!! But a really lovely bonus :-)
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous!!! But personally - forget the contents, the hamper itself would be my dream!!!!! X
ReplyDeleteI think this is so exciting, I would have to say that food type gifts are the best, especially rare treat type stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab basket, the food looks grand too, and Mavis as always, so cute :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful hamper.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Happy Christmas, looks like that's likely as you work your way through these goodies.
My son once paid £1 for an Asda Easter Egg and left it unattended. One KC cavalier very happy with discovery but did not enjoy the visit to the vet and neither did I upon receiving a bill for £67.50!
ReplyDeleteThe fruit cake is right up my street, would even be happy if you sent me the crumbs!!
