Cold Day, Hot Soup

Sometimes on a cold, cold day all that you really want is a mug of piping hot soup.  When it's homemade Leek and Potato made with your own veggies somehow it's even more satisfying.

At the moment I am having real problems both with our main computer and now with the old laptop as well, if I vanish for a while please bear with me.  I should be picking up a brand new lap top on Friday of this week.  Fingers crossed that will work!!

  1. Can't beat soup; I will be embracing home-made soup for our Frugal February - I have to make everything last a bit longer and try to lose the weight (at least half stone - oops) gained during December and into January. It is a shame you are having computer problems, as we do miss you when you are not around every day, but at least we know it's not personnal!! Take care, and really hope the weather cheers up soon. 3. I made a big pot of vegetable soup today too. We've had snow, gales, ice, pouring rain and this lot is going to go on all week apparently. It's so cold up here in Scotland that soup is a must at lunchtime.

  8. I love home made soup and I know the satisfaction you would be getting from making it with your own veggies. We love minestrone soup at our place and it's a great way to get veggies into my kids particularly my 10 year old son who is not that fussed with veggies and only likes potatoes and a few peas. However I do make zucchini slice/pie once a fortnight and he loves this so that's also another good way. I hope you get your computer problems fixed soon, they can be a real pain in the neck. 9. Our internet was down again today - I suppose - the weather may be contributing to the problem - it seems to act up more during storms! It came back about an hour ago - so I can read blogs before supper. Soup is lovely and easy to do. Yum

  10. Just finished a big slow cookers worth of lentil soup, the usual result of boiling a gammon joint with a couple of carrots and onions added. It provided 4 very filling meals with the addition of a few dumplings.

We seem fated with lap-tops as well, they never want to work for very long.

  13. We opened up several jars of veggies we put up this past summer. It all went in the slow cooker and soup is what's on the menu for tonight.
