More Books ... and No Excuses

I just couldn't resist  :-)

I only called into Asda for some bread and milk, and somehow found myself in the book aisle.

They were soooooo cheap, and it is nearly Christmas, and I don't want any presents this year, and I could go on and on and give you a myriad of excuses and reasons, but there are none needed, I wanted these books and I bought them.

Good reading for the Winters nights ahead.

I'll add them to the new books I bought the other week and the copy of the first 'Eat Well for Less' book that Alan bought me when he bought himself two woodworking books last weekend ... which means our new book total for the house is -

578

My name is Sue I am a bookaholic .... and so is Alan  ;-)

  4. Books are the one thing I never minded buying. I didn't need a reason other than I wanted it, for myself or one of the kids. I hope you enjoy them as much as I always did.

    1. There's absolutely NO WAY I could just get a Nigel Slater book from the library, the overdue fees would be horrendous ... much cheaper to buy the book :-)

The Katie Fforde book however WAS a bit of an extravagance!!

  10. I grew up round the corner from Nigel Slater, but he is much younger. I was in junior school with his older brother. Both Nigel's Mum and my Mum had surprise "later in life" babies and I remember them chatting about that. I emigrated 50 years ago and never knew that Nigel had become famous until a few years ago! 1. Lucky you, I love the man he's one of my favourite cooks and authors. I loved the autobiography of his life 'Toast' that was also made into a film. I've watched it on Dvd quite a few times :-)

  12. Nigel Slater, whose idea of budget leftovers is £10 worth of deli ham and a fiver of artesan bread

  16. A love of books is a wonderful thing, I had to cut back when I retired. Our local charity shops always have hundreds to choose from, our local library has online renewal if you are taking a while to read, they also have purchased every new book I have ever requested they also bring in requested books from any library in the state, just takes a few days.
The nearby shopping centre has started a free book exchange, just take along what you have read and take home whatever you would like.....the shelves always have plenty of choice......I have saved a lot and passed on many books I will not read again.

  17. Me too Sue. I took my grand daughter to Waterstones as part of a birthday treat. She does love books, but it was just as much of a treat for me!
