Lovely Peas .....

For the first year in ages our pea plants are doing really well and we are getting to eat lots of their lovely green peas, both snacking while we're working outside and bringing a few in to add to various meals.  We will never have a panful the way we have when we cook with frozen peas (which we still have lurking in the freezer) but they are enough to add their lovely freshness to so many dishes, things like fishcakes and salads.

However, the same can't be said for the Butternut Squashes  ;-)

  3. Lovely picture of your peas. It is so exciting getting peas to freeze. This year for the first time in 16 years we bought in some of our pea plants. We still sowed some rows. We also fed them with seaweed and Tomorite. They have done really well without getting powdery mildew. We also sow later as we have found that, in our plot, later sown peas and carrots do best. Love following your blog keep it up. ☺

  4. Love your peas. But I love your butternut squash more ! :D It's gonna make one hell of a risotto together with 3 grains of rice.

  5. Your squash made me laugh - one of the perils of gardening I am afraid.

    1. I wouldn't mind so much but it was the only one on the plant and I accidently knocked it off :-(

All the other flowers have been males up to now!!

  6. Teeny squash is so cute and those peas are just perfect and look so yummy. They reminded me of my childhood; I haven't shelled peas for décades (they're very expensive) but I can still remember the scent.

    1. I was just thinking the same thing! We used to get them in the pod and my mom would put us to work shelling them all - haven't heard of anyone doing that in years!

  7. HA! That photo cracked me up! I bet it is still tasty - thinly sliced and cooked in butter with a bit of cinnamon and maple syrup.

  8. The teeny squash is too cute. We are having a good crop of squash this year, although it isn't butternut squash.

  12. Sexiest, most luscious photo of peas ever taken! I'd like you to take my obituary photo. If I can look half that good I'll be happy. I'll be dead, but still, I'll be happy.
