Blog Stats - Fascinating Insights into What YOU are Reading.

Our Animals and Their Spaces - 27th  June 2012

Yesterday after completing my blog post, I nipped on to the statistics page to see what sort of viewing figures I have been getting recently and I looked around at what was going on on the blog at that time (1.20pm), it was fascinating to see what everyone was reading at that time.

7 of you were reading the new post .... my you were quick off the mark!!

16 of you were reading the day before's post Flowers, Seeds and Trucks.

4 of you were reading Our Animals and Their Spaces from June 2012.

4 more of you were reading Cooking on the Aga from Friday.

2 of you were back in March 2009 reading Chickens and Horses.

Another 2 of you were reading A Working Weekend the Simple Way, another weekend blog post from 2012.

And another 2 were Keeping it Simple also from 2012

And somebody was catching up and reading the post from 28th March, It Just Says It All ......

It made for interesting reading for me to, to go back and see what you were reading about (and also to find out that by me clicking the title of what you were reading it made instant links for this post), so if you fancy reading any of those old posts just click on the titles in the yellow boxes under each photo.

Hands up if you were one of the 'older post' readers, and I'll say THANK YOU, you took me along with you on a very pleasant trip down memory lane.  And don't you lose an awful lot of time when you start trawling through back blog posts ;-)

Other interesting facts and figures I found at 1.20pm yesterday.

  1. Hello Sue, I was probably somewhere in those stats! I only discovered your blog a few months ago. In fact I'd never read any blogs until then and had been wanting to make changes/simplify our lives for a long time but never had the opportunity to make a start until I took early retirement at 50 last October. I find your blog really interesting and it makes compelling reading. I started at the beginning and am gradually getting towards the present day. I've picked up loads of tips and ideas. It really is a great blog! (Mrs LH)

    1. Thank you. With the length of time I've been going it must be getting like War and Peace to read through from the beginning, I applaud your stamina, perhaps I should have a go at reading right through. I bet I'm starting to repeat myself a bit.

  2. Hi Sue,

I haven't read back that far but I usually do that days post and any I have missed. I get between 200-550 views a day but I'm only little and often infrequent. I'm also lazy with pictures which people like. I'll have to go back through your blog and have a read. Hope all is well and have a great day. Much love. X

  3. Morning Sue. I regularly read yours (and a few others), but only until recently was I able to comment on your posting (when you added Anonymous - I don't have a blog and have no idea how to set one up!). I used to keep chickens (so I find those postings interesting). Up until 6 months' ago, had a German Shepherd (she's now at Rainbow Bridge) and love hearing about your pooches. I enjoy gardening (both flowers and growing fruit and veg). So all in all, I would say your blog makes for interesting reading for many peeps. Have a good day and 'Keep on blogging'!! CMW

    1. Setting up a blog is relatively easy.

Click on the Blogger 'B' ... it's in a little orange box at the very top left hand corner of my Blog. You will be taken slowly and surely through all the stages of setting up your own Blog. If you decide to go for it and manage to do it, let me know and I'll give you a shout out on here.

Have a good day yourself ... I hope the sun is shining for you, its trying to get out here but it's struggling :-(

  4. I've looked at the stats like that and puzzled over why and how there could possibly be 4 people reading an old post at the same time, and I've also found that the most read post list is wrong as I came across posts in the past with higher readings than the one listed. Soooooo I've come to the conclusion that the Stats LIE!!
One day when I have too much time on my hands I shall go back to the beginning of your blog and find out about your first move to the country, as I only started reading not long before your move to Wales. Just need more hours in the day!

    1. and I just went back and read your yesterday post which I had missed 'cos your new posts are always slow appearing on my blog roll - no idea why, anyway thanks for the info about the Francine Raymond new book we've met her a few times at various events in Suffolk- a very nice lady and so sad that her husband died so young. I shall now go and see if the library have a copy.( Did you know she had 'complaints' about her book More Hens in the garden because people thought it was MOORHENS in the Garden!!)

    2. You have to slightly take some of the stats with a pinch of salt but as a general rule they give an idea of what is happening behind the scenes on the blog. I compare the stats to the Live Traffic Feed as well which gives a bit of a secondary indicator, although it shows me as living somewhere completely different when I read other folks Blogs, so even that isn't infallible.

Funnily enough as I was typing about Francine I thought of you (with the Suffolk link) and wondered if you had met her, she really is a very nice lady. More Hens - Moorhens .... aren't some folk daft!!

  5. Those are some good stats! My readership is much lower but I still love it and all my regular readers!

    1. I don't think viewing numbers are the be all and end all. If just a few people read and enjoy and are on the same wavelength as us then that is brilliant, and it somehow adds to the pleasure of recording our day to day lives on our blogs.

With you setting up your new huge veggie growing patch we are going along very similar paths at the moment, only I don't have two gorgeous little helpers to aid and assist me ... just Lovely Hubby ;-)

  6. If you have Stat Checker installed you can see more or less where people are in the world, now that is scary. You can watch people come and go to the second, how many pages they have read, how long they have been on for, how often they come back, which site they came from, and how they found you. It gives a much more detailed report. Talk about Big Brother, everyone leaves a trail.

    1. Yes, I've got all that, and of course there's my little revolving globe on the right hand sidebar that shows at a glance where in the world readers of the Blog bare at any given moment. Fascinating stuff.

We are all being monitored no matter where we are these days!!

    2. You've beat me on the most popular post of all time. Mine stands at 8552

  7. Sue that is really interesting statistical information, and you have certainly found a lot of followers. I've only been at this for less than a year, so haven't accumulated nearly that many hits in a day, but it's going up!

    1. It will keep going up, and the more comments you leave around blogland the easier you make it for people to find your blog. It is interesting seeing how far and wide your blog is read isn't it.

  8. I am not sure that the stats we read are real
I am fickle and shallow enough to want to believe them
but from what I hear from friends who are computer boffins.... many of the stat hits are automatic in nature

    1. The Live Traffic Feed is the best one to go off for knowing who is on at any given time. I always know for instance when Mum has clicked on and read the Blog, so I know to keep it clean and be a good girl ;-)

  9. I'm relatively new to blogging (started last August), so when I see stats indicating readers from far-flung areas of the globe, I wonder who it could be!

    1. That's why I added a Translate button to my Blog to try and make it easier for people all around the world to read. It is good to click on to another language and see how it looks :-)

It is amazing that we can all connect with each other all around the world isn't it.

  10. I really enjoy your blog, and am one of the people slowly reading through the old posts, when I check in every few days. Live Traffic Feed shows me as living about 200 miles from my actual location! I don't blog myself as my life is so dull compared with yours and the other bloggers I read. Kitty in the forest

    1. Snap, when I see myself appear on the Live Feed it shows me as still living in Oxfordshire, also just over 200 miles away from where I actually am!!

Never think of your life as dull, it would be fascinating to others to read what you do with yourself on a day to day basis.

  11. I love your posts - all of them are awesome. I often do what you did and am often surprised that sometimes the most mundane things are the most read.

I should go back & catch up to what I've missed!
