Holding Hands in the Wash

I pulled the washing out of the machine earlier and once again all the shirts and long sleeved tops must have got a bit scared as they whizzed round together ...... as they were all holding hands!!  Well to be more specific all the sleeves were so tightly entwined I thought I'd never work out the puzzle of how to get them separate.

It's like when you put in the duvet cover with a few other bits and pieces, they all somehow manage to get inside the duvet cover during the course of the wash ... even if you've only accidentally left one button on it open.  You couldn't invent a machine to do this if you tried!!

Reverse Advent - Day 4

The three balls of wool I was lucky enough to receive when I reviewed the magazine Landlust when it's first copies landed on UK newsagents shelves a few weeks ago.  I was going to use it to tie up my tomato plants next year, but I have plenty of string for that (and I mean plenty), and it would be put to much better use by a knitter to make something cosy for Winter.  So it's gone.

  3. My husband thought he was being helpful, loaded the washing machine, I usually bag my tights in one of those washing bags, they were put in amongst the washing and when they came out the were one large knot! Ever tried undoing five pair of wet tights........?

    2. No. I was quite grateful he did that little extra job that needed doing. The tights didn't come to any harm either.

  5. I once found a pair of pants (knickers for any Americans) which I had 'lost' approximately ten years before that when shaking out a lesser used duvet cover. They must have been hiding out in the corner all that time. Of course after 10 years, they were too small. I had wonder where I could have lost them!!!

    1. My sister in law was bemoaning the fact that she had lost one of her favourite tops last time we were there, later on in the weekend she noticed an uncomfortable lump under the loose covers on the sofa ... yes you've guessed .. there it was :-)

  6. I'd like to know where socks go to....why is it that I can put 10 socks into the washer, but only 9 will be there at the end of the cycle?

  7. Good to know that someone will put that beautiful wool to good use. It's a lovely colour and quality (and - as a knitter - far too nice to chop into little bits!!!)

  8. Oh yes, sleeves that intertwine, things that creep into the duvet cover in the machine - probably went to the same school as all those socks who go into the machine in pairs and then cleverly separate and one of them is never seen again.

  9. Indeed, I often awake from one of my thrashier nightmares to find a solitaroy sock escaped from the duvet.

  10. My issue is always with my sheets, especially the bottom fitted one, that always captures smaller things in it during the spin cycle.

  11. I don't have a problem with the washing machine - however, I can never figure out why on the odd occasion I use the tumble dryer it ALWAYS turns my knickers inside out!

  12. How is it that things do this in the wash! You are so right, no machine could be made to do this if you tried to make it do it! xx

  13. Just reading a few posts as at the moment i am not in the mood for blogland but i did laugh about this washing post , Doesn't it always happen with the duvet cover especially if you have to dry it in a dryer as if you put other things in with it the duvet cover comes out dry but the other washing when it gets inside the cover stays damp lol xxxx

  14. Perhaps we need a university to offer a research grant to find out why the duvet swallows up the washing despite being buttoned up. After all they studied why toast falls buttered side down. ;0)
