We had a lovely day yesterday, travelling up the A34 in glorious sunshine to visit the two little ladies that are soon to join our happy little band of animals here on the farm.
Lulu and Lottie Large Black who currently live with their mummy Cilla the Large Black in sunny Wiltshire.
As you can see I'm sure Cilla will be pleased to see the back of her little brood if it means she goes back to getting her dinner in peace.
Cilla had a litter of 10 piglets, although one, Tilly is just a little runt and perhaps will not survive. Lulu and Lottie therefore have 3 sisters and 5 brothers, a really good sized litter for a first time mum.
And what a wonderful mum she is being too, sheltering her little ones from the frosty mornings by lying in front of the doorway with her back to the cold so they can feed in the warmth and running back and forth to check on them whenever she hears as much as a squeal.
If our little girls are as lovely, gentle and friendly as their mum we are in for a fun time here on the farm. The piglets are 3 weeks old at the moment but as you can see from the pictures they are already eating some solids so they may be weaned from mum a little bit early, if this is the case we can go to pick them up in about 4 weeks, something we are already looking forward to. Tomorrow pictures of the Speckledy ladies, already fitting in with the others very well. The sun is out now and throwing off enough heat already to melt the hard frost we had last night, so I am off out to tidy the side of the house today and get the tyres ready for planting the first of the carrots.

Morning Sue. Gorgeous piggies aren't they? I can't wait till we get to this point, but love reading about yours in the meantime. It seems you are not the only one questioning craft stalls in blogland. Bit of a recurring theme. Do you think a different venue would help or a different seeling mode altogether? Have a good day x
ReplyDeleteOh oh oh, they are gorgeous! Lovely Lulu and Lottie! Of course I now want Tilly don't I - don't tell hubby, he'll only roll his eyes!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the sunshine
Take care

I really enjoy reading your blog, and I have to say that your pictures of the piggies and other animals too are always so cute!! :-) I hope your week is off to a good start!!
ReplyDeleteWith ears that big there's a definite risk that those piglets might blow away! They are very lovely though...
ReplyDeleteWow Sue, Lulu and Lottie are going to be such a gorgeous addition to your family :-)
ReplyDeleteLoved reading about how their mum lies in the door and looks after them (am craving someone to lie against the door of life for a while!!!)
Love Charlotte
