We Have Progress .....

We have progress at last on the polytunnel !!

Can you see in the distance that improvements have taken place.

Creeping a little bit closer ...alright I admit it I stayed in exactly the same place and zoomed in with the camera  :-)

Zooming in a bit more and you can see for yourself exactly what has been going on.

The last couple of weekends have seen the weather being relatively kind to Lovely Hubby as he has manfully heaved wheelbarrowfuls of sand, paving stones and wood into place AND he has managed to make and fill one of the lengths of raised beds with sieved soil.

He soldiered on last weekend until he ran out of paving stones, we had commandeered some of the ones he had ordered for the polytunnel to make the area around the henhouse safer for us to walk on when we are cleaning out the henhouse, so we are about 10 short of finishing the polytunnel paths.

Once the inside is fully done he will get the polythene in place ..... I know it does seem like the wrong way round to me too ....  personally I would much rather be working in the dry but this is the way he has decided to do it this time.

Who am I to argue .... I almost have a polytunnel .... YAY  :-)

    1. I have enough seeds in stock to keep us in food for the next three years, so no ordering needed :-)

  2. What if he were to tear the polythene moving the stones in though doing it your way?

  3. Do you think he will have it finished this weekend?

    1. No ... seemingly the raised bed on the other side is going in this weekend, then the path alongside it and then the middle bed will fill the remaining space. Once these are all filled with soil then the polythene will be brought into the house to warm up after being stored in the trailer for the last 6 months ... and then and only then, will our eldest son be put on standby to take a wind-free Saturday off work to come and help us manhandle the polythene in place. THEN I will have a polytunnel :-)

  6. Sue, you are absolutely right to keep quiet when a man is managing something. Suggestions aren't taken well. Good luck!

  8. You will love it when you finally get it :) I bet you have missed a polytunnel - I don't know how I would manage without mine!

  9. Hugely envious. Sometime ago "A Decision Was Taken" (not by me, I add) that a polytunnel was not appropriate for our garden . . . and given what a so-and-so one of our neighbours can be, that may well be the correct decision, but I still wish our raised beds were under cover :{

    1. Have you seen these ... https://www.firsttunnels.co.uk/mini-polytunnels.asp This is the company I use for everything 'polytunnel' and they do mini ones for raised beds to be used independently or inside big tunnels. Could be the answer to slightly earlier growing for you, and YA BOO to the neighbours ;-)

    2. Thank you Sue. I have seen the mini-tunnels and I'm sure they're brilliant, but what I love is the feeling of walking into a tunnel or greenhouse - the contained space has a different energy, different smell, there's something very special about it :}

      I'll bide my time ... given your Lovely Hubby has built the beds first and is putting the tunnel over them I have not yet given up hope that one day my veg area might be under cover.
