Caught Napping and Some Rather Large Pebbles!!

As I was stood at the sink washing the morning pots after walking the dogs around the paddock,  I heard a gentle snoring,  I turned round expecting to see Suky stretched out in her bed .....

... but no she was fast asleep on her feet.  Something Pugs do so well.  The camera was in reach so without moving or making a noise I got the first two shots, then she heard me.

" Drat ... you caught me snoozing!! "

In other news, the hole in the paddock driveway is now even larger, two of the drainage ring bases are in and one top is in place, unfortunately the sunny weather of yesterday, when it really did feel like Spring had sprung has gone away and poor Arthur is working in drizzle.

I had to stop on the way back from taking him a cuppa and get a picture of the rather large pebbles he unearthed yesterday.  To try and get the size in perspective they are next to the larger trunk part of the old oak tree that Lovely Hubby had to get Arthur and his digger to lift and turn over, as it was too big to cut through with the chainsaw from one side and he was unable to even roll it over himself.

I hope we will be able to position some of our large rocks somewhere and make a feature of them, but I'm racking my brains to think of where.

Sue xx

  1. I'm not sure what impresses me more your pebbles or the trunk. I love all things wooden, so the trunk wins out. I look forward to seeing where the pebbles end up. I have a cat who snores, she always lays at hubby's feet, I have to check who is asleep on a regular basis.

  2. Suky is so cute. I love that you have a rug under your dog beds and they are next to the warm Aga. We all really love our dogs. I am sitting in my kitchen now. Archie on my lap. Bertie on the chair next to me. And Charlie and Bailey asleep in front of the Aga. And Charlie is snoring! Can't believe the size of those rocks. It will be a big rockery if u use them....Have a great day Sue.

    1. The rug makes it cosier for them, and means they can climb in and out of bed without slipping on the tiled floor. They all worship the Aga. Little Charley used to press herself up against it and fall asleep :-)

  3. If you'd strolled through my conservatory yesterday afternoon, you would have caught me napping!! I may try again this afternoon too :)

  4. I agree that the rocks would make a good rockery, but then with mountains all around you probably don't need a rockery!

  5. You have lovely rocks I have 4 huge pieces of concrete I'm going to try to make into a feature rather than have to hire a skip to remove! If you think of anything, let me know please! I promise I'll do the same.

    1. We'll have to decide what to do and do it while we have a digger here at some point, they are too heavy to move without one.

  6. How about painting the name or number of your property on the rocks and using them as sign posts? I've done this before and planted heather and bulbs around them. Natural house signage!

    1. A good idea. Once the walls are up and the gates in position on the drive, hopefully in the next couple of months, we can see if the stones would look good somewhere on the outside. Otherwise we are going to get a couple of slates inscribed with the house name and have them fitted in the stone of the wall.

  7. Those look like Texas rocks, Sue. Your dog napping is so funny...reminds me of my husband nodding off in church until I poke him! ;-)

  8. I wish I could nap standing, it would be so handy commuting on overcrowded train to work.

  11. It's a hard life for dogs! Great you got a photo of her. As for the rocks, they will make a great feature some where, I did the painted rock house sign at my last house and it looked great. I wish I could nap like that :)
