When the Boot's on the Other Foot

Lovely Hubby has been the butt of many jokes this week, all related to his fashion purchase at the weekend.

We were in M&S for the food shopping and he espied these rather snazzy socks, one pair for every day of the week and with the day emblazoned on the underneath matching the brightly coloured toe and heel.  I though nothing of it until I came to peg out the washing ...

... and then I realised it would always take me slightly longer than usual as I have a bit of OCD about things being hung in pairs.  Which is not so bad when all the socks are just black, as mine are.  In fact I had just got him onto all matching socks and pants which is also very frugal as when one sock is unrepairable it can go in the bin and the leftover one will soon be paired with another loner.

So I've been teasing him about being forgetful and needing the days of the week on his feet so he can whip his shoe off and check at any time, the  final tease ....... the left and right stickers on his wellies in the picture at the top, he spotted them last night when he went out to shut the birds up for the night.  After all if he doesn't know what day of the week it is it won't be long before he doesn't know which foot is which!!

Good job he's got a sense of humour my lovely man. :-)

  1. Totally agree with you about frugal socks - all black for us as far as possible! The YFG needs white socks for PE so she has a load of plain white ones, but they are all the same and odd ones find a partner eventually! I try to avoid buying any socks with patterns on these days...

    1. It's so much easier when they're all the same colour and type isn't it. I've got a few summery socks that are different but once they're worn out I'll replace them with a stock kind for summer.

  2. I would probably do ok without hanging them in pairs, but it would drive me crazy if I went through a day knowing I had on the *wrong* pair of socks.

  3. I notice that you hang socks the way I used to hang them (from the top, not the toe). When i was newly married we lived in a block of units with an elderly Greek lady opposite. When I came home from work one day all my socks had been re-pegged from the toe. She told me (with lots of pantomime as her English was not very good) that they would go frilly if i pegged them the other way, so i've done them her way ever since! And I've been married nearly 40 years!
And as for not matching socks, my daughter NEVER wears matching socks. It's kind of her thing, and always has been since she started selecting her own stuff. Not sure why, it just is :)

    1. I always do it this way, they have to be flat and 'look like feet', I can't stand peg marks on the toes, thank goodness there's no helpful Greek ladies near me :-)

    1. Oh, how could you, now you#'ve got me all worried, go out and sort them out - immediately. I wish I lived nearby I would come round and do it for you :-)

  5. I hang socks in pairs too; it's much easier when you get them in as you can pair them up as you take them off the line rather than having to sort through a bundle of them later (that's if you don't just have plain black ones, which would be a much smarter idea, of course!)

    1. I do this as well, fold them in their pairs as I take them down, I hate it when it rains and I have to bring things in quickly all higgledy piggledy.

  6. Oh gosh!! Reading all my answers to your comments has made me realise how totally OCD I am regarding my washing. Thank goodness I'm not like that about other things.

Bangs head on desk and squeaks like a mad woman!!

  7. I peg socks from the toes (waving arms madly) or they go all frilly!! You know I colour coordinate my washing on the line so I can't call you OCD.

  8. I pair socks on the line too AND hang by the toes! I'd have switched the left and right tags though (evil laughter!)

  9. I sort them out hang them in pairs ... by the toes.... then before I bring them in off the line pair them up with the tops folded over before I take out the pegs, they stay together then in pairs and can go straight into his drawer. I bring all my washing in and fold it neatly then iron it. I think a lot of women are a bit ocd about the washing, my hubby is getting there slowly..... with tuition lol

  11. Hi :-), such a fun post. I hang them in pairs too, but have not been as sensible as you where colour is concerned. I now have a huge bag of mismatched socks. Isn't humour just so important. My hubby had his name tatooed across his wrist a few years back and we wondered if it was incase he got lost...then he could just show his wrist and people would know who he was! "better tattoo in my telephone number too...so they know where to bring you (him) ha ha". He just grinns whatever reason we find to tease him about sth. Love a man with humour. Pam xx
