Just look at the different shades of wood we have going on, the furniture, the floor etc and see how the white brings it all together and it's so easy to wash down when it get animal marks and touch up in the future without having to re-decorate. Our house was built in early 80s with a vaulted pint boarded ceiling and I wouldn't even begin to try to paint it, too large a job. If we move, it would be up to the purchaser to decide upon the style! My mom bought an ugly baby grand piano years ago for $200, sounded great, but was ugly. Looked like someone painted it yellow, then decided it was too yellow, then added brown. You might have to reglue joints if they've come loose and they'll probably need a good rub down as it can make the wood fur up. They came back looking good, but a bit slack as some of the joints were coming a bit loose, 100 years worth of drying out I suppose.
